Ninja Princess Zombie Rockstar: Plan B
Okay, so.
I’m not going to repeat the whole start of the story. You can read it here if you want.
The short version is that I am collaborating with a lovely young girl on a project called NINJA PRINCESS ZOMBIE ROCKSTAR. I’m writing, she’s drawing and we’ve invited the internet to play along with us — illustrating our book one panel at a time.
We met at Heroes Con in Charlotte last year, and I had hoped to have our book finished by Heroes Con THIS year, where we would sell our little mini comic for a modest price and swap it with those of you who chose to play along for your versions.
Aaaaaaaand then I had the busiest year of my professional life.
Aaaaaaaand I tried to use Tumblr to organize the project, which, though I have undying love for Tumblr, wasn’t the best plan. (Tumblr’s rapid refresh made it confusing to follow. I likely could have done something to make it more stable/easier to follow using the static pages, but I didn’t put that together until things were already under way.)
So, long-story-long —
We ain’t done. Heroes Con is 2 weeks away and we ain’t gonna GET done in time.
BUT, I am not emotionally prepared or equipped to give up on this or to fail to meet my commitment, so here’s what I’m thinking.
- I’m going to do a copy shop print run of a little booklet that includes the story of how the project came to be, the script thus far, Winter’s art thus far, script for a couple of new panels and an invitation for you (and/or your children) to join us.
- If any of you who have played already want to give me permission to include your work (which we will claim no ownership of) in our booklet as well, email me links to your panels, your express permission, your name and your home page url, if you have one.
- Winter, who will be tabling with me for at least part of the weekend, will sell her little booklet to you for the low, low price of $1… with all the proceeds marked for Winter’s college fund. I bet she’ll sign it too.
- After I talk to her dad, I’ll find out when she can be at the table and I’ll put post the times.
After this year’s heroes con, we’ll resume the project—hopefully with some new folks joining in—and I’ll see if I can come up with a better interface than the Tumblr blog I’m using now. Probably just creating some pages on said Tumblr blog, but I’m going to see if I can talk Laurenn into advising me here.
Okay. That all make sense?
