ACTION SHOT! HERO POSE!
Here let’s see our heroine, PRINCESS NINJA (and her cat!), in the air in a supercool ninja action pose. One neat way to do this is to have your mom or dad take a picture of you jumping up in the air and then draw that. (That’s called “photo reference.”) Maybe you could get them to take you to one of those trampoline places? Do you have those where you live? They have one here. I think it’s called SKY HIGH.
Mom and Dad might not like this idea, I don’t know. It might be too dangerous for their taste. If that is the case, you should forget all about the trampoline place because they are your mom and dad and they are the bosses and I am just some crazy lady on the internets.
Couple of other notes:
1) You don’t have to redraw your background here. You can do some kind of cool explode-y thing in the background if you want. You know who’s really good at that? A guy named ChuckBB. He drops backgrounds out to really great effect some times. Here’s an excellent example.
2) Fill the rest of the page with this panel. From now on our book is going to be all 2-panel pages, or 1-panel pages (we call them “splash pages”). Your daddy suggested this and I think he’s right; that’s the least complicated way to go about this.
3) If you’re playing at home with us, feel free to disregard any of the above. Winter and I want to keep this easy peasy, but this is for fun, right? So if you want to try something crazy at any point, please do it! Maybe you’ll develop an all-new style?? And you can put your page turns wherever you want.
Now I want to go jump on trampolines.
